Day 1
Welcome to Japan! Upon arrival at Kansai Airport you will be met by your guide and driver and proceed to transfer to Takamatsu by private vehicle. Kansai Airport to Takamatsu’s transfer takes around 4 hours passing through small settlements and towns, beautiful sea sights, small hills, and a lot of greenery. Upon arrival in Takamatsu, you will check-in to your accommodation for the night and spend free time at leisure enjoying local sights until this evening when you will join a welcome dinner to kick off the tour.

Day 2
Following breakfast at your hotel, meet your guide and driver and start the day with a visit to Ritsurin Garden, one of the very popular gardens located inside Takamatsu City. Designed in the 17th century, the garden contains 6 ponds, 1400 pine trees, many carps, beautiful bridges, and traditional houses. Following sightseeing in the park, you will move by ferry to Shodoshima, a small island located nearby to Takamatsu. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a group lunch, followed by an afternoon of exploration on Shodoshima. Famous for its salt and olive-oil production, this island boasts one of Japan’s best gorges: Kankakei Gorge, as well as an olive garden, and one old movie shooting spot: Nijyu-Yon-No-Hitomi-Eigamura (Superhit Japanese movie shooting spot). After the day sightseeing around the Island, check into your accommodation and enjoy dinner and free time at leisure relaxing at the hotel.

Day 3
Following breakfast at your hotel, transfer to Teshima by private marine taxi, accompanied by your guide. Teshima is a small island, which can be travelled around on foot, or by hiring a bicycle, to explore the many Art Exhibits. This island is becoming famous recently, due to its main attraction - the Teshima Art Museum. Following a visit to the museum, you will enjoy a group lunch and have free time at leisure to explore and sightsee further until the late afternoon, when you will return to Shodoshima by private marine taxi and enjoy dinner and free time at leisure relaxing at the hotel.

Day 4
Following breakfast at the hotel, meet with your guide and take the ferry to Naoshima (via Takamatsu), travelling through the Seto Inland Sea - a wonderful experience with its panoramic ocean views. Naoshima is the most famous of all the art islands of this region and you will enjoy spending the day taking in its artistic landscape. Following a visit Fukutake Art House, and a stop at the Ando Museum, you will enjoy a group lunch before heading to take in artworks housed in the Chichu Museum. Dinner will follow your day of art museum visits and the evening is yours to spend relaxing and enjoying free time at leisure.

Day 5
Following breakfast at the hotel and accompanied by your guide, you will visit another contemporary museum together with your guide; Benesse House. Following a group lunch, the afternoon is yours to spend entirely freely at your own leisure continuing to explore Naoshima. As an island is known for its many contemporary site-specific installations by James Turrell, Walter De Maria, and paintings by Claude Monet, your afternoon will be filled with interesting sightseeing. In the early evening, return to your hotel for dinner and enjoy relaxing further at your leisure into the night.

Day 6
Following an early breakfast, return with your guide to Takamatsu by private marine taxi or high speed boat. For the last full day of touring, art exploration will be focussed on the eastern part of Kagawa. Taking part in a guided tour of the Isamu Noguchi Museum, where the world-famous artist/architect has set his marvellous creations. Following a group lunch, continue your trip with a visit to George Nakashima Memorial Gallery, a gallery of the Japanese-American furniture designer “George Nakashima”. In the afternoon, transfer back to Takamatsu where you will have free time at leisure until reconvening for the tour farewell dinner this evening.

Day 7
Following breakfast, pass the time freely in the morning in Takamatsu city (depending upon departure flight times) before transferring to Kansai Airport, accompanied by your guide, for your departure flight. The guide and driver will see all tour members off upon arrival at the airport, and the tour will end. WE hope you enjoyed touring the 2022 Setouchi Triennale, and hope to see you again in three years for the next one!
