From Tokyo, go west to the previous capital 'Kyoto', but not before enjoying views from half-way up Japan's tallest mountain and enjoying a tranquil lake cruise on the way. From Kyoto, visit Nara, home of the largest bronze statue 'Great Buddha' at Todaiji Temple as well as Nijo Castle and Golden Pavilion all of which are World Heritages. Finish up with a free day in Kyoto to spend at your own leisure.
